In this workshop designed for beginners to intermediate level, Rodrigo Brea presents a range of professional techniques and approaches for constructing stylized environments. The workshop, spanning 5 hours, covers several topics, such as concept analysis and breakdown, setting up a basic scene in Unreal 5, creating diverse assets like grass, foliage, trees, and hero pieces, as well as texturing and generating reusable Substance Smart Materials.
Rodrigo employs a selection of key software tools including Unreal Engine 5, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop, TreeIt, and Autodesk FBX Converter. Through the utilization of these tools, he provides insights from an industry insider's perspective on tackling the creation of stylized assets for professional games.
During the workshop, you will witness the process of setting up the final scene and learn Rodrigo's approach to lighting. Additionally, he will demonstrate a few straightforward methods for capturing beauty shots and creating a video presentation. The techniques taught in this workshop will not only aid in creating a scene from a concept but will also be applicable to any stylized environment you wish to create.
Upon completion of the workshop, you will have gained a better understanding of the workflow employed by professional game artists in constructing stylized environments. Moreover, you will have learned various problem-solving techniques and approaches to achieve different results.
Included with this workshop are two downloadable folders: the first folder contains Rodrigo's completed Unreal 5 Project, including all the associated assets, while the second folder offers his working files from the different software packages used throughout the workshop.
